Perfectly Imperfect!

Posted: 7th May 2014 by Rob in Uncategorized

When it comes to perfection, there are two kinds of people…those who are and those who are not. The matter is weighted heavily in one direction. A zillion who are not and one who is. Now that doesn’t mean that there are some from the majority side who think they are, just ask them. Yet, In one sense they are. Here me out.

To be perfect means that you are flawless, without spot or blemish etc.
And that is true, in their imperfection. Perfectly imperfect. That just about describes the zillion. But the One, He’s perfectly perfect. Is that hard for him to do? Nothing is to hard for God. Jesus is distinctively different, perfectly holy, perfectly righteous, in all character, thought, word and deed.

And what’s more, when you trust Him, some of the zillion get to share in His perfect perfection. Perfect!!

Tax Day Idolatry

Posted: 15th April 2014 by Rob in Uncategorized

Idolatry is a thing of the past…right? I mean people are not actually carving out figurine’s, setting them in a conspicuous place and bowing down to them for hope and blessing any more…are they? If that is what we think, that idolatry is relegated to a form of ancient paganism, then we’ve got another thing coming. We have, in reality, perfected it dressing it up in garments and painting it’s face and deem it praiseworthy. And what is that idolatrous monster?

New City Catechism – Question #9

Unknown
In a book titled “The Interaction of Law and Religion” (Nashville: Abingdon, 1974), Harold J. Berman, professor of law at Harvard University, has developed a significant thesis”

–  Western culture has had a massive loss of confidence in law and in religion.
–  One of the causes of this double loss of confidence is the radical separation that has been made between the two.
– You cannot have workable rules for behavior without religion.
– Only religion provides an absolute base on which morality and law can be based.
– Western society is doomed to relativism in law because of the loss of an absolute.
– (A break from) authoritative religion…the concept of God, break(‘s) away from the possibility of absolute truth.

” (The) only remaining resource is existential relativism, a slippery, unstable, and ever-changing base on which no authoritative system of law or morals can be built. Religionless law can never command authority.”

“Indeed, it is now generally recognized “that no judicial decision is ever ‘final,’ that the law both follows the event (is not eternal or certain) and is made by man (is not divine or True).” Thus:

Rules without absolutes are rules without authority, except the authority of force and coercion.

When God is abandoned, truth is abandoned; and when truth is abandoned, the basis for morals and law is abandoned.

A consistent, coherent legal system cannot be built on philosophical humanism, on the principle that right and wrong fluctuate according to man’s ideas and feelings. Where, Oh Where are we headed??

Resurrection – 1981 Years to the Date?

Fundamental to the faith of all true Christians, is the reality of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, God’s unique eternal Son. It was the sure victory of life over death and is the hope of all who truly trust in Him.  His rising from death to life was an actual event, on a specific day, at an identifiable location within the borders of the nation of Israel, in Jerusalem, from a tomb, on the outskirts of the protective walls of that particular city.

The question of “when,” as in the recordable date has been debatable since. One such date has been set forth in a recent publishing from Crossway Publishing called,

“The Final Days of Jesus: The Most Important Week of the Most Important Person Who Ever Lived” Click here for more

If their calculations are correct, then, based on our Gregorian calendar, April 5, 2014 is the exact date 1981 years past that the Savior of many rose in victory from Golgotha to free His captives from sin and death.
